Experimenting With KDP Select

Over the past few months, I’ve received some really good advice from an author friend that I trust, Russell Brooks. Three months ago, he entered all three of his novels into the KDP Select program.

The program was very successful for him. Yet, I always knew he had three books compared to my one and many more reviews. I knew that my experience would be very different. One of his books affect the other, allowing him the possibility to triple his sales.

I nervously debated joining the program, but I watched his numbers spike and couldn’t resist anymore. At the end of his journey, he detailed his results. That acted as my catalyst to join.

This is the first morning of my KDP Select experiment for Barcode: Legend of Apollo. It’s reminding me of the first week the novel was on sell. During the first two days in February, I managed to rank 7,995 in the Kindle store. This morning I woke up to 3,928. While writing this, I’ve even moved to 2,673. Just last night, I was ranked 113,966.

Am I looking forward to reaching number one? Is that even possible? I don’t know the answer to the second question, but I’m definitely looking forward to it.

Like every other author with a blog, I plan to write about my results. I’ll have another post later tonight expressing my gleefulness.
